Chief Mine Engineer – West/South Africa

Job Description:
Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Chief Mining Engineer is responsible to provide strategic and operational expertise to the mine technical functions including planning, survey, geology, drill & blast area to ensure that the life of mine plans are prepared in a structured, accurate and timely manner to improve overall productivity of the company.

Responsibilities:
    Work with the department manager for the zero base budget preparation for OPEX and CAPEX.
    Driving of signing off mine contractors payment certificates
    Ensure definition of the Mine Planning processes, systems, inputs, planning guidelines and outcomes
    Defining the system support requirements and ensuring their introduction and effective utilisation to deliver timely and accurate mine plans and schedule
    Development and execution of the processes to enable optimised LOM, 3 year, 1 year and 3 month plans to be developed for the mining operation in order to deliver both short and long term shareholder value
    Reporting of progress against plan, highlighting variances and action required to address these
    Evaluation and interpretation of the Geological model and the preparation of an optimised Mine plan and mining sequence
    Budget outcomes and Maximisation of asset utilisation
    Mining layouts and schedules, Clearing and Rehabilitation schedules and Survey scheduling
    Responsible for the evaluation of geological data and resource information and the provision of regular reserve reconciliations to enable accurate reserve depletion status to be determined
    Responsible for the transfer of knowledge and training of other employees within the Technical Department

Requirements: Qualification and Skill:
    Degree in Mining Engineering from recognized University
    Minimum 10 year’s experience in open pit mine planning environment, preferable in bulk commodities such as iron ore and bauxite
    Use of Mining Software (Including GEMS, Surpac, Minesched, Whittle)
    Ability to reflect on what is occurring in order to identify trends and diagnose emerging problems, proactively initiating actions to prevent or overcome problems identified
    Ability to manage a technical department and liaise with peers in other sections
    Contract Mining Management experience very essential

Duties & Responsibilities:
    Preparation and submission of Automotive Production Development Program (APDP) claims to I TAC
    Prepare and submission of all raw material data in the described form of the OEM’s in accordance with the APDP regulations
    Manage all self-utilisation or sale of surplus production rebate credit Certificates (PRCC’s)
    Ensuring the integrity of the SAP APDP system and managing any updates there to.
    Liaising with auditors to ensure clean audit report of all APDP claims and APDP system.
    Administration of a PDP system, to ensure all required inputs are maintained by the relevant stakeholders.
    Completion of Annual tax returns
    Preparation of VAT returns
    Administration of all tax matters including but not limited to Income TAX, VAT, Transfer Pricing and Customs and Excise duty.
    Liaise with South African revenue services and the regular tax team as and when required

Education & Experience Required:
    An undergraduate degree in a related field (i.e. Accounting, Finance, Economics, etc.) is required.
    An advanced degree (i.e. MBA other advanced degree), or certification (i.e. CPA, CMA, etc.) highly desirable
    Well versed and previous exp in Automotive Production Development Program (APDP).
    Minimum 3 years of progressively more responsible experience in Finance management experience including manufacturing, accounting, and financial planning and analysis.  
    Demonstrate a high level of understanding of manufacturing operations and systems.
    Experience in working with multiple groups and matrix organizations.

    Strong mining networks and ability to convert customers to new products
    Proven track record in successful customer and sales engagements
    Have good knowledge and strong network of African explosives market
    Meet all eligibility requirements to obtain Visa for overseas travel
    English proficiency, Skills in MS Office, Openness, and adaptability to the new culture

The Regional Internal Audit Manager reports to the Director, Internal Audit & Risk and is responsible for the management, planning and execution of process and control audits, operations reviews, ethics investigations, and special projects. Responsibilities:
    Plan, manage, and conduct audits and internal consulting projects with the objective of improving the effectiveness of internal controls and efficiency of Company operations.
    Work with operations to establish action plans to remediate weaknesses on a sustainable basis.
    Manage internal audit communications, including audit announcement letters, planning memos, and internal audit reports.
    Concisely and promptly present audit findings and recommendations to key stakeholders, including executive leadership (EXCO) and the Company’s external auditor.
    Manage external providers and other specialized resources (e.g., IT, finance and operations personnel), as necessary, in the execution of the Company’s audits and other projects.
    Assist with the annual risk assessment process and development of the annual audit plan, using qualitative and quantitative analyses in the evaluation of business risks.
    Assist on various special projects under guidance of the Director, Internal Audit & Risk.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill
    Minimum 7 years progressive experience in audit, operations, finance, process improvement, or operational project/change management
    Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field, MBA highly desirable
    CPA, CIA qualification advantageous
    “Big 4,” internal audit, Six Sigma, or consulting experience in a similar environment
    Proven track record of successfully partnering with management. Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, functional areas, personality types, and cultures
    Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, French communication highly advantageous
    Data analytics, Oracle ERP, fraud auditing and FCPA experience highly desirable
