Position Purpose:
The Senior Consultant is responsible for develop, evaluate and implement guidelines, systems and processes to enable line
management to vigilantly manage operational risks in line with Transnet Freight Rail
’
s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
framework and to add value to Transnet Freight Rail
’
s operational processes. Facilitate implementation of the Business
Continuity Management (BCM) policy, strategy and processes
Position outputs:
•
Provide a framework to enable line management to systematically identify, evaluate and treat all operational risks and
monitor the effectiveness of control measures and risk treatment plans within their operational areas
•
Recommend appropriate operational risk models, tools and techniques to measure and manage the costs, losses and
implications of these risks as well as potential operational risk exposures
•
Recommend good practice around operational risk management and ensure that the region is aligned with Transnet Freight
Rails operational risk management strategy and plan
•
Ensure that the region identifies, evaluates and monitors operational risks and propose new and improved controls
Commission audits and assessments of operational risk management processes in the region
•
Compile reports on the results of operational risk audits, report on findings and develop appropriate strategies to implement
recommendations
•
Undertake a regular risk-focused professional review of all major risks and losses within the region
•
Examine activities, assess risks involved and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the processes, systems and
controls to manage risks
•
Facilitate the implementation of the Business Continuity Management (BCM) strategy and policy throughout the region
Maintain the central register of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs)
•
Support and monitor the implementation and testing of BCPs
•
Implement Loss prevention solutions
Qualifications & Experience
•
B Degree or Diploma in Risk Management, SHEQ or equivalent is required
•
A minimum of 8 years working experience in an operational risk management function
•
Demonstrable exposure to operational risk management best practice and current trends in the discipline
•
Demonstrated leadership capabilities
•
Be in possession of a (Code B) Driver
’
s Licence and be competent and prepared to drive such a vehicle
